What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is not a sport as such, it is a trademark, like Zumba is a registered offering sessions mixing dance and aerobics.
CrossFit is a training method via many movements in weightlifting, cardio training or gymnastics. These movements are performed at high intensity and want functional, similar to those that can be practiced in everyday life.
The longterm idea is not to be an expert in a particular movement, but to be good in all areas. CrossFit does not make you the best gymnasts or sprinters. The idea is to build on the diversity of movements to improve strength, agility, balance, cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, speed, coordination and so on.
Training consists of a warm up, a technical section to learn the Crossfit movements and an intense workout WOD (Workout of the Day) ranging from 5 to 45 minutes.
There are three fundamentals that are mandatory for all who come to train with us. These three foundations consist of 9 basic movements that are essential for every CrossFit Workout. The three foundations will serve alternately as a warm-up before each workout.
Here’s a great presentation of the Crossfit movements.
- Front Squat
- Overhead Squat (OHS)
- Shoulder Press
- Push Press
- Push Jerk
- Sumo Deadlift High Pull (SDHP)
